Technologies

As a leading provider of mobile communications services, NTT DOCOMO actively promotes development and introduction of new services ahead of its competitors, as well as innovation of new technologies targeted at international standardization. Through our own efforts and collaboration with terminal manufacturers and other business partners, we have established a high reputation for the excellence of our technology and expertise in research and development.

In concrete terms, our R&D rests on three pillars: wireless access technology, networking technology, and multimedia interface technology. We are now expanding research from simple improvement of existing services to the creation of 4G (fourth generation) mobile communications systems, as well as conducting basic research necessary for post-4G systems.
